HAMPTON WEDDING
Miss P M Clarke and Mr E R Knight
The marriage took place on Thursday last at Hampton of Miss Phyllis May Clarke, second daughter of Mr & Mrs W Clarke of 2 Church Bank, Hampton, and Mr Ernest Ronald Knight, youngest son of Mr & Mrs G H Knight of 7 Belmont Terrace, Badsey. Canon W C Allsebrook officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle-length gown of white satin and veil held in place by a wreath of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of red carnations and maidenhair fern.
The bride was attended by Miss Mavis Clarke (sister) and Miss Mona Welland (cousin), who were attired in ankle-length dresses of pale blue taffeta with headdresses to match. Their bouquets were pink carnations and maidenhair fern and their necklets were the gift of the bridegroom. Mr George Hall was best man.
On leaving the church the bride was presented with silver horse shoes by Miss Rita Cotton (niece of the bridegroom) and Master Percy Clarke (brother of the bride).
The bride’s mother wore a clover dress of marocain with matching accessories and the bridegroom’s a two-piece of blue figured crepe and matching accessories.
A reception at the Montfort Café was attended by 40 guests. Canon W C Allsebrook proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom. The happy couple received many presents.
Both are well-known in the district, the bridegroom at one time being a playing member of Badsey Juniors FC, in Evesham Junior League, and later a regular player in Badsey Rangers FC.
The honeymoon was spent at Ledbury, the bride travelling in a clover dress with pink coat and accessories to match. They will make their future home at 7 Belmont Terrace, Badsey.
