1888 Feb 6 - Inland Revenue Form concerning succession in real property of Mary Ann Sherwood

Description

An account of the succession in real property of Mary Ann Sherwood of Bretforton in the county of Worcester, widow, upon the death of Sarah Ingles who died on the 28th September 1870, derived from Richard Ingles, the predecessor, under his will dated 20th June 1862, in which will the successor is wrongly described as “my daughter Ann Sherwood” and proved on 9th December 1862 by the executors therein named.

Description of property

A freehold messuage or public house with outbuildings at Badsey in the county of Worcester and also certain closes of land called “Netherfield Closes” or “Quarry Ground” conctaining about 6a 3r 10p now in the occupation of John Poole at the yearly rent of £50.  Purchased by the testator in the year 1847 for £749.

He also bought five cottages in Willersey, purchased in 1835 for £233.

In terms of deductions, the cottage property was described as:

... old and dilapidated, say £5 % for rental of Royal Oak on a rental of £50-£60 and £10 % on cottages on their rental of £28.10.0.

Interest of Incumbrances:

On a mortgage for £600 created on the freehold portion of the property by the testator Richard Ingles dated 9th July 1847 and now held by George Eades.

On a mortgage for £200 created on the leasehold portion of the property by the said Richard Ingles dated 12th December 1835 and also now held by the said George Eades.

At the end of the form it stated:

I declare that this is a just and true account of all the succession in rent and leasehold property of Mary Ann Sherwood upon the death of the before-named Sarah Ingles and that the said Mary Ann Sherwood was born on the 28th August 1830 and is a child and linea issue of Richard Ingles, the predecessor, from whom the said property is derived.
