DEATH OF MR JOHN POOLE
Mr John Poole, the well-known butcher, of Evesham and Badsey, died at his residence at Badsey on Monday, after an illness of about 12 months’ duration. Bright’s disease was the cause of death. Mr Poole was very well known and much liked in the Evesham and North Cotswold district. He was landlord of the Royal Oak, Badsey, for 25 years. He was a member of the old Badsey School Board. He took some interest in hunting, and for many years was a walker of the North Cotswold Hunt puppies. In politics he was a staunch Conservative. He was only 54 years of age. Curiously, the notice of the transfer of his business at 63 Bridge Street, Evesham, from Mr Poole to Mr A G Kerr appeared for the first time in last week’s Standard. The funeral took place at Evesham Cemetery on Thursday afternoon.
