BADSEY – DEATH OF MRS POOLE
Mrs Joyce Poole, of Laburnam Villa, Bretforton Road, Badsey, died rather suddenly on Saturday morning. Mrs Poole did not feel very well on Thursday and remained in bed, but her death on Saturday was quite unexpected. For some years Mrs Poole had suffered from asthma. Mrs Poole, who was 65 years of age, was widow of the late Mr John Poole, butcher, who died on October 24th 1904, and who for many years was landlord of the Royal Oak Inn, Badsey. The funeral took place at Evesham Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, the service being conducted by the Rev M H Jones. Deceased was buried in the same grave as her late husband. She was well known and respected, and there were many tokens of respect shown. The mourners were Messrs Samuel, Frank and Charles Jelfs (brothers), Miss Jelfs (sister), Mr A G Kerr (son), Miss Lily Crisp (niece) and Messrs John and Alfred Kerr (grandsons). Although it was deceased’s wish that no flowers should be sent, several beautiful wreaths were received.
