The West years (1945-1946)

CA155.jpgCA161.jpgMr Ronald Henry West was Headteacher of Badsey Council School for just over a year.  We are grateful to his daughter, Sue Jones, who contacted us in April 2017 with information about her father’s brief tenure.

The Evesham Journal of 18th November 1944 gave details of his career.  He did not, however, take up his post until the end of January 1945 as he was ill.

Mr West was worried about the state of the school-house, the rental for which was £26 per annum.  This typed list shows the items which he felt needed to be done before he moved in with his family.

From 27th-31st May 1946, Mr West accompanied pupils on a school trip to Wilderhope Manor in Shropshire.  One of the parent helpers on the trip was Mrs Annie Cole of The White House, Aldington, whose children, Greta and James, were pupils at the school.  She wrote to thank Mr West and the schoolchildren for the gift she was given.
