NEWMAN, Shadrack (1877-1962) – Army Service Corps

Driver Shadrack Newman (1877-1962) was living in Wickhamford in the late 1930s.  He lived in Lower Swell in 1911, with his first wife Kate and was employed as a farm labourer.

Shadrack was a gardener when he enlisted in the Army Service Corps (No T/328581) at the age of 40 on 2nd March 1916.  He was discharged, as no longer fit for military service, on 7th May 1918.

He was living in Wickhamford when the 1939 Register was compiled, at 21 Pitchers Hill (now renumbered as 57) with his second wife, Nellie Augusta, and was working as a builder’s labourer.
