Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: Society’s exhibition at Badsey First School’s Summer Fete containing photographs of school and archaeological exhibition following the April field walk in Under Badsey. Fete visitors were able to talk to Deborah Overton of Worcestershire Archaeological Service and try a “cleaning pottery” session and Peter Stewart showed his extensive collection/knowledge of Roman coins. More pottery washing was planned for 2004 but early indications were that Under Badsey once was probably home to a farmstead of some sort. The Society was hoping to have another archaeological field walk in the Autumn. Future events: stands at Badsey Flower Show and Local History day at Worcester Guildhall; Quiz Night and Computer Taster session. The Society was hoping to collect more photographs/memorabilia from members for possible inclusion in a History of Badsey School and request was made for more contributions. Society newsletter 4 reported on the American property developer who bought the former Badsey Blacksmith’s shop and Peggy Dolan of Florida (descendant of Mary Oldaker whose father first acquired the Blacksmith’s shop) had been in lengthy e-mail correspondence concerning her family history. Other surnames mentioned by Peggy were Berrington and Simpson. Names of Committee members: Terry Sparrow (Chairman/Treasurer), Maureen Spinks (Secretary), Will Dallimore (Membership Secretary), Marion Allen, Tony Jerram, Richard Phillips, Neil Thould, Carolyn Worth.
