Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: report on exhibition at Badsey Flower Show featuring photographs of school/village architecture. Despite inclement weather people were still studying photo albums at the end. Also The Badsey Society had a stand at a Local History day run by Worcestershire Record Office and BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester. Our theme was market gardening and many compliments were received about our stand’s quality. The Chairman’s two-tine fork was admired by Arif Yuce of Worcester, a keen gardener/winner in 2003’s Worcester Allotment Competition. Future events: quiz night; stands at Badsey First School’s Christmas Bazaar and Badsey First School’s Summer Fete plus Computer Taster Session, more ‘archaeological pot-washing’; AGM; rescheduled house history talk and publication of “A History of Badsey School”. Fred Roberts, a former pupil of Badsey Council School, reminisced and there were extracts from the 1923 School Log Book written by Frank Amos, the Headmaster. It was suggested that the Society established a collection of photographs, documents and artifacts relating to Badsey and Aldington and we asked for donations. A cassock and prayer book belonging to the late Canon Allsebrook had already been donated. Invitation included to the Computer Taster Session. Names of Committee members: Terry Sparrow (Chairman/Treasurer), Maureen Spinks (Secretary), Will Dallimore (Membership Secretary), Marion Allen, Tony Jerram, Richard Phillips, Neil Thould, Carolyn Worth.
