Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Badsey Flower Show should have taken place in July but was abandoned due to flooding of the Recreation Ground, one of the many parts of Badsey and Aldington affected by flooding. Badsey effectively became an island and some children were taken home from school by tractor and stranded motorists sheltered in Remembrance Hall. Newsletter contained photographs of flooding. Orchard DVD “Beyond the Blossom” launched. DVD told of Vale’s plum orchards, three-quarters now lost. Also talk on history of Badsey Post Office. Future events: talk by John Boynton entitled “The Old Worse and Worse – Or Was It” on old Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway (OWWR). In 1845 OWWR constructed a railway line from the Oxford and Rugby Railway at Wolvercot to Worcester, Stourbridge, Dudley and Wolverhampton with a branch at Bushbury, Evesham and on to Worcester, Oxford and London. Members interested in Archaeology could obtain news of Worcestershire events by obtaining Newsletter from Historic Environment and Archaeology Service. Names of Committee members: Will Dallimore (Chairman), Maureen Spinks (Secretary), Terry Sparrow (Treasurer), Ian Gibson, Tony Jerram, Mike Lovatt, Jane Neill, Richard Phillips, Neil Thould.
