Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: talk by John Boynton about Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway. Future events: AGM followed by display of photographs of village; 2008 Badsey & Aldington photographic survey of all village properties (as continuation of Worcestershire Photographic Survey) (WPS); Whit Walk; Badsey Flower Show and talk entitled “Clues in the Landscape” by Bob Brown of Cotswold Garden Flowers. Article on 1968 WPS and Harrington House now owned by Tony Jerram. Harrington House was formerly owned in 19th century by Edward Appelbee who had inherited land from his great-uncle Edward Savage who had bought Harrington House and the estate later known as Claybrook Farm. Edward Appelbee married Elizabeth Loxley in 1828 and had two Badsey born children Thomas and Anne. Thomas and his wife Hannah’s (nee Jerram) sixth child was Francis Jerram Appelbee. Tony Jerram was unaware of his connection with the Appelbees although he had come across a Thomas Appleby of Tewkesbury who married a Hannah Jerram in “The Jerram Family Pedigree”. Whilst on Harrington House part of its former land (1-6 Seward Road) was featured on a “60-Minute Makeover”. Wendy Such was the surprised owner of the bungalow which had makeover. Report on the BBC programme “Who Do you Think You Are” on family history of Alistair McGowan, actor and comedian. Alistair’s parents George (Mac) and Marion taught at Badsey School and Alistair was pupil at Badsey school. Report of deaths of John Grose-Hodge (a distant relative of Canon Allsebrook Vicar of Badsey) and Peter Spencer.
