1950s – Photo of the former Sladden orchard on the corner of High Street and Brewers Lane, Badsey

Description

Two identical photos of the site of the orchard which formerly belonged to the Sladden family of Seward House.  The land was sold in the 1950s and the trees felled in preparation for the building of a detached bungalow (now called The Majors, 21 High Street) at the west end and a detached bungalow (called Allen Croft, No 10 Brewers Lane) at the east end.  In the 1970s, three detached houses were built in between the two (Nos 4, 6 & 8 Brewers Lane).

The photographer was standing outside Seward House on the High Street.  Part of the wall surrounding the Fountain can be seen on the right of the picture and the end of the house beyond is Pool House.
