JACKSON (née REMINGTON), Constance Gathorne

Biographical Details

Constance Gathorne Jackson (1870-1953) was the cousin of Charles Binyon, being the daughter of Frances Remington (née Binyon), who was the eldest sister of Charles’ father.

Constance Remington, known as Connie, was born on 30th May 1870 at Malling, Lancashire, the youngest of six children of the Reverend Reginald Remington and his wife, Frances (née Binyon).
In 1902, Constance married Arthur Molineux Jackson, a physician, who had been Assistant Medical Officer firstly at Middlesex County Asylum and then at Kent Lunatic Asylum.

They had four three children, all born at Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire:  Charles Machell (1904-1919), Constance Mary Dorothea (1905-1987) and John Molineux (1908-1992).  Constance was widowed in 1908 when her husband died on 8th December; her youngest child was less than two months old at the time.  Constance was living with her youngest son at 1 Merick Road, Malvern Link, at the time of the 1911 census; the two older children were staying with their Aunt Gertrude in London.

Constance died on 24th December 1953 at Cartmel.
