10 Brewers Lane

Present-day address: Allencroft, 10 Brewers Lane, Badsey

A detached bungalow built on the south side of Brewers Lane in 1954, on land which used to be the orchard belonging to Seward House.  In 1951, May and Ethel Sladden sold Large Orchard (this extended from High Street to Chapel Street) to Francis Edward Jones who had a bungalow built at the High Street end (No 21).  In 1954 he sold the extreme easterly portion to his brother-in-law, Frederick Joseph Barnard.  Following the death of Frederick Barnard in 1980, the bungalow was sold to Edwin & Irene Allen.  It was then that the bungalow was given the name Allencroft.  With thanks to the late Mrs Allen for allowing us to look at her house deeds.
