BADSEY, NINETIETH BIRTHDAY

On Saturday a quarter peal of Grandsire Triples, 1200 changes, was rung on St James’ bells to honour the 90th birthday of Mrs James Reeves, the oldest inhabitant of Aldington, Badsey and Wickhamford.  Mrs Reeves is a native of Blockley and has lived at Aldington over 35 years, still being fairly active.  She can recall many Royal events having lived through six reigns.  They include the Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887, the Diamond Jubilee ten years later and the Coronations of King Edward VII, King George V and King George VI.  All will wish her many more happy years as did her children who joined her in a quiet celebration last week.  Those who rang the peal were:  A J Brazier, R Jelfs, G A King, T W Hardiman, A Worthington, A T Taylor, R R Savory (conductor) and E Mitchell.
