NO COMPLAINTS – Badsey Pig Club’s Progress

Out of a membership of 183, only seven were present at the commencement of the annual meeting of Badsey and Aldington Pig Club held at the Wheatsheaf Assembly Rooms on Thursday, over which Mr E Salter presided.

Commenting on the small attendance, the secretary, Mr V Wasley, said it appeared that all the members were satisfied as to the club’s organisation and since they had no complaints to offer thought it worth while attending the annual meeting.  No member was in arrears and there were no bad debts.  Receipts for the year totalled £841 19s 6d, while the expenditure was £761 2s 1d.  The rebate to members would be in the region of £39 as compared with £31 7s last year.  The secretary was thanked for his work by the chairman.

The question as to whether the club should have the services of a veterinary surgeon was raised by the secretary.  A surgeon was prepared to inoculate members’ pigs at a fee of 3s 6d per pig, but the veterinary surgeon was only prepared to undertake the work providing that the entire club was agreeable.  If the offer were accepted added the secretary, it would mean that the scheme would have to be worked through the club and one member would have to be available to act as guide to the vet.  The offer was accepted and those wishing to participate in the scheme will be enrolled at the next meeting.  Mr G Marshall agreed to collect the necessary fees.

The chairman and secretary were re-elected and the following committee was appointed:  Messrs E Evans, W Sears, W Geden, G Marshall and J Harris.
