Saturday 21st December 1935 – Funeral of John Alfred Cole

THE LATE MR J A COLE
The death occurred on Saturday last, at Bretforton, of Mr John Alfred Cole, youngest son of Mr & Mrs Walter Cole of The Garage, Bretforton.  Mr Cole, who was 23 years of age, was born at Mitcham, Surrey.  He was educated at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Evesham, and was well known and respected in the district, and great sympathy will be felt for his parents and two brothers.  The funeral took place at Badsey Church on Wednesday afternoon.  The service was conducted by Canon Allsebrook and was choral.  The hymns, “Blessed are the pure in heart”, “On the Resurrection Morning” and at the graveside, “Abide with Me”, were sung.  The family mourners were:  Mr & Mrs Walter Cole (father and mother), Mr & Mrs Ralph Cole (brother and sister-in-law), Mr Laurence Cole (brother); Mrs H Keen (aunt), Mrs R Sparrow (cousin), Mr A Sparrow (uncle), Mrs E Johnson (aunt), Mrs Nutt (cousin), Miss E Agg (cousin), Mr W Sparrow (cousin), Mr & Mrs H H Collins of Broadway, where he was a member of the staff for several years, were also present, while Mr T H Byrd and Mr W Walford represented the Bretforton Branch of the Cirencester Benefit Society.  Mr & Mrs Hay (Broadway), and numerous friends of the deceased, were also present at the Church.
