BADSEY SCOUTS PRESENT “CINDERELLA”

Scout funds will benefit by more than £12 as a result of the presentation last week by the Senior Scouts, Scouts and Cubs of the Badsey Troop of the pantomime “Cinderella”, supported by two short plays.

The programme opened with a set piece depicting HMS Scout, in which the company sang the famous gang show number, “Crest of the Wave”.  This was followed by a sketch of Hyde Park Corner, ably played by John Bennett, Charles Perkins, Derek Barrand and Douglas Bott.

The Cubs presented a sketch entitled “The Concert” in which Ronald Salter made a confident leader, supported by Ken Smith, Tommy Rogers, Ron Jones, Brian Burman, Clinton Evans S Tompkins, G Young, P James, A Ockwell, M Salter and Brian Smith.  The three scenes were interspersed with solos by D Rouse and E Salter.

The pantomime opened in a Scout headquarters, and then followed on more or less traditional lines.  Those taking part were D Rouse, John Grindle, A Sears, K Hughes, Terry Jenkins, D Barrand, E Salter, T Brotherton, D Bott, G Corbett, Brian Hurman and Clinton Evans.  The scene in the ballroom was particularly well presented, and this excellent production ended with the entire company singing “There’ll always be an England”.

The show was produced by Mrs Hurman and Mr Blake.  B Jennings was at the piano for the first two nights and Mrs Salter on the final night.
