ROCK-PERKINS WEDDING

On Monday afternoon, the marriage took place at St Peter’s, Bengeworth, of Miss Edith Nellie Rock, the eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs F Rock of 10 Montfort Street, and Mr Frederick Thomas Perkins, the eldest son of Mr & Mrs T Perkins of Synehurst, Badsey.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev A T Allwork.  The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a long graceful gown of ivory satin beauté, made with ruchings at the hips and elbows and with the new halter neckline, over which she wore a rope of pearls, the gift of her sister.  Her flowing veil was held in place with a wreath of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies.  The two bridesmaids – Miss Doris Rock (the bride’s sister) and Miss Connie Perkins (the bridegroom’s sister) – were a pretty pair in dresses of pale pink silk ninon, falling full to the ankles from low-waisted bodices, and worn with dainty boleros in the same material.  They wore crinoline hats in a slightly deeper shade, trimmed with ninon rosebuds and crystal necklaces (the gifts of the bridegroom) which matched the diamanté buckles on their dresses, while their bouquets were of pink and mauve sweet peas.  The bride’s mother was becomingly attired in light brown marocain, with a beig hat and carried a bouquet of carnations, while the bridegroom’s mother wore a fashionable dress of black satin with a black and white hat.  The best man was Mr Francis Perkins, the bridegroom’s brother.  After the ceremony, a reception, attended by many friends and relatives, was held at 10 Montfort Street.  The happy pair, whose future home will be at Badsey Fields, were the recipients of a large number of handsome and useful gifts, including one from the Evesham Steam Laundry, where the bride has been a popular employee for the past 12 years.
