SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER MARRIED
The wedding took place at St James’ Church on Saturday of Miss Ida Marian Elizabeth Hartwell, second daughter of Mr & Mrs T W Hartwell of The Silk Mills, and Mr William Henry Esmond Churchley, eldest son of the late Mr & Mrs S Churchley of 15 Burford Road, Evesham.
The bride, who is a native of Badsey, has taken a great interest in the social life of the parish, having been a member of the GFS for 14 years and also a Sunday School teacher for several years. She is also a member of the Women’s Institute.
The ceremony was performed by the Vicar (Rev W C Allsebrook), assisted by the Vicar of Bengeworth (Rev F J Wells). The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr Edgar Potter, was attired in a rust-coloured two-piece suit, with a brown hat and shoes to tone. She carried a spray of white carnations and an ivory prayer book, the gift of the GFS. She wore a bracelet, the gift of the bridegroom. She carried a prayer book, the gift of the bride.
The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Arthur Churchley, the bridegroom’s brother. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, and later in the day Mr & Mrs Churchley left for their honeymoon which is being spent in Birmingham. The happy couple were the recipients of numerous presents, including those from the GFS, the Sunday School, and the Vicar and Miss Allsebrook.
Their home will be at 15 Burford Road, Evesham.
