VERGER’S DAUGHTER
Miss P L Hunt married at All Saints

A wedding of considerable interest took place in All Saints’ Church, Evesham, on Thursday last week when Miss Peggy Irene Hunt, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs H Hunt of 17 Lime Street, Evesham, was married to Signaller Richard Alfred John Huxley, eldest son of Mr & Mrs Huxley of BOwers Hill, Badsey.  The service, which was choral, was conducted by Canon T Charles Jones, BA (Vicar).  The organist, Mr A M Slatter, ARCC, played the hymns, “The Voice that Breather o’er Eden” and “Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us”.

Given away by her father, the bride looked attractive in a tweed costume with hat and shoes to tone.  She carried an ivory prayer book.  There was one bridesmaid, Miss Jennifer Christine Hunt (sister of the bride) who wore a pale blue dress and carried a bouquet of jonquils.  Mr Kenneth Hunt (brother of the bride) was best man.

Twenty guests attended a reception which was held at the home of the bride.  The couple received many useful and valuable presents.

The bride, who was educated at Pershore Senior School has, for the past two years, been employed as a postwoman driver by the Post Office.  The bridegroom is serving in the Army.

The bride’s father has for a number of years been verger at All Saints’ Church, and the family is well known and respected in the town.
