Details of Will

I, John Poole of Laburnam Villa, Badsey, butcher, give:

  • Frederick Lewis £5 free of legacy duty for his trouble in acting as executor and trustee
  • All my plate, linen, china, glass, books, pictures, furniture and all other my household effects and all my horses and ponies to my wife Joyce absolutely
  • All my real estate and all the rest and residue of my personal estate unto my trustees upon trust as to the business of a butcher now carried on by me in Evesham upon trust for my stepson Alfred George Kerr absolutely
  • And as to all the rest of my estate both real and personal including book debts in connection with the said business upon trust that my trustees shall sell, call in and convert into money the same and out of the moneys produced by such sale pay my expenses and then invest the residue in trust to pay the income to my wife during her life and after death in trust for my stepson Alfred George Kerr absolutely.
  • I also declare that as regards my real or leasehold estate remaining unsold my trustees shall be at liberty to let or demise the same either from year to year or for any term of years at such rents and subject to such covenants and conditions as they shall think fit and to accept surrenders of leases and tenancies, to cut timber, to insure against loss or damage by fire, to expend moneys in repairs or improvements and generally to manage the property according to their absolute discretion.
