WEDDING OF MISS F N SMITH
The wedding took place at All Saints’ Church on Saturday of Miss Florence Nellie Smith, elder daughter of Mr & Mrs F S Smith OF 36 Mill Street, and Mr Francis Perkins, second son of Mr & Mrs T Perkins of 15 Synehurst, Badsey. The ceremony was performed by the Vicar (Rev E O Burbidge). The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very pretty in a simple gown of ivory crepe de chine and an embroidered veil, with wreath of orange blossom (lent by her sister), her bouquet being of cream and red roses. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Edith Tuton (her sister-in-law) and Miss Phyllis Jones. They wore becoming dresses of pale green crepe with full skirts. The dresses had pretty fawn tie collars to match their hats, which were trimmed with pale green. Both bridesmaids carried bouquets of deep pink gladioli and wore green necklaces, the gifts of the bridegroom. The bride’s mother was attired in navy. The duties of best man were performed by Mr George Perkins, brother of the groom. As the bride left the church, she was presented with a silver horseshoe by her little niece, Miss Yvonne Smith of London. Later, a reception, attended by numerous guests, was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Mr & Mrs Perkins, who are well known in Evesham and Badsey, received a large number of handsome presents. They will make their future home at Wickhamford.
