BADSEY WEDDING
The marriage of Miss Annie Emeline Jelfs, youngest daughter of Mr & Mrs Frederick Jelfs of Brewers Lane, to Mr John William Matthews, second son of Mr & Mrs Ernest Matthews of Hill View Cottages, Beckford, was solemnized at St James’ Parish Church on Saturday by the Vicar (Canon W C Allsebrook). The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a navy and white two-piece suit, with hat and shoes to tone, and wore a spray of violets and fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss Margaret Jelfs, who wore a navy costume with hat and shoes to match and wore a spray of carnations. Mrs Reeves (sister), who was dressed in a pale green two-piece, with hat and shoes to tone, was matron of honour. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where about 40 guests were entertained. Later in the day the happy couple left for a honeymoon which is being spent in Birmingham. Mr & Mrs Matthews will make their future home at Fair View, Chapel Lane, South Littleton.
