BADSEY – LATE MR G LLOYD

The death took place at Avonside Hospital, Evesham, on Thursday week, of Mr George Lloyd of Sands Lane.  Aged 69, he was a native of Watford, but had been resident in Badsey for nearly 40 years.  He served in HM Forces throughout the 1914-19 war, seeing much service overseas, and he had been a member of the Badsey branch, British Legion, since its foundation.  For the past 24 years he had been employed by Messrs A E Jones & Son, market gardeners, of Badsey.  He had a wide circle of friends.  The funeral took place at Badsey on Monday, a short service in St James’ Church being conducted by the Vicar, the Rev W B Chapman.  Family mourners, Mr & Mrs Llewellyn Jones, Mr & Mrs W H T Merriman, Mr & Mrs R Arthur, Mr F Jelfs, Mr & Mrs R Spiers, Mrs H Grinnell, Mr L Sadler, Miss Ella Jones, Miss C Wixey and Mrs F Salter; Mr A J BRAZIER (representing the Legion branch).  The coffin was draped with the Union Jack.  Floral tributes were sent by Mr & Mrs Ll Jones (employers), his workmates, Badsey branch of the British Legion, and Friends at The Wheatsheaf.
