2019 Lecture - Lizzie Noyes

The fourth Richard Phillips Memorial lecture took place on Friday 12th April 2019 at Badsey Community Sports & Social Club.

We were delighted that Lizzie Noyes, Richard’s partner, offered to present this year’s lecture on the subject of Badsey Manor House.  She and Richard moved into their half of the house in 2000, having bought it to do up as a retirement project.  They added a utility room and garage and saw themselves as custodians of this magnificent building.

Richard conducted extensive research on the history of the house and wrote about the Seyne House (as the Manor was once known) in our publication, Villages in the Vale: A Tapestry of Local History.  Since then, more information has come to light.  The talk, which was illustrated with fascinating slides, was well attended with 58 people present.  The following day, Lizzie conducted a tour of the Manor House.
