Gwladus Olwen Williams (1894-1974), known as Olwen, was the sister of Mary Christabel Sladden (née Williams) who had married Arthur Sladden in April 1914.

Olwen was born in July 1894 at Dowlais Rectory, Glamorganshire, the sixth of nine children of the Reverend Llewelyn Morgan Williams and his wife, Georgina (née Rowlands).  She was baptized in the church at Dowlais on 31st August 1894.

In August 1914, on the outbreak of war, the Sladden family were holidaying at Craig y Mor, Newport, and met up on a number of occasions with members of the Williams family.    Olwen is mentioned in one of the letters written during this period.

During World War I, Olwen undertook Red Cross exams along with her sister, Dorothy, as is revealed in her sister’s letter of 12th May 1916.

Olwen married Reginald H Thomas in 1929 in the Abergavenny district.

Olwen died in 1974 in West Glamorgan, aged 80.
