Remember the king who was found buried under a car park? Come and join us on a day trip to the Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester.
We will depart Badsey at 9.00 a.m. and return to Badsey for 6.00 p.m. There will be refreshments on arrival, followed by an introductory talk entitled “The King Under the Car Park”, telling the story of the exciting discovery of the Richard III’s remains in August 2012, 527 years after his death at the Battle of Bosworth. After that, members will be free to explore the Centre before having lunch either at the White Boar Café in the centre, or one of the excellent local cafes nearby. After lunch, the plan is to visit the medieval Guildhall. Participants are then free to visit Richard’s tomb in Leicester Cathedral, follow the Richard III Trail guided by Alan Tutton, or explore the nearby shopping areas, before meeting back at the coach at 4.30 and returning to Badsey.
The cost for all this will be £36 each. The cost for the coach only to anyone who wishes to spend the day at their leisure exploring the city will be £20 each.
If you would like to come along, please contact Shirley Tutton on 07740 286941 or email shirleytutton@talktalk.net. The closing date for bookings is Friday 31 July.
Trips are open to members only, but it costs just £5 a year to join the society, which gives access to our monthly meetings, newsletters three times a year, and monthly updates by email.
