London – Kentish Town: Church of St Silas the Martyr

Lieutenant-Commander James Sholto Douglas, who lived in Badsey for just under a year prior to the war when assisting in the boys’ home at Badsey Manor House, is remembered in the church of St Silas the Martyr, Kentish Town (where he worked before moving to Badsey).  His name does not appear on the main war memorial but is on one of six further brass plaques in the Confessional area.

The plaques carry the inscription:  +OF YOUR CHARITY+ + PRAY FOR THESE WHO+ +GAVE THEIR LIVES+ +IN THE WAR 1914-1918+ +AND PRAISE
