NEW RULES FOR BADSEY PIG CLUB

The annual meeting of Badsey and Aldington Pig Club took place at the Wheatsheaf Inn, Badsey, where it was revealed by the secretary (Mr V Wasley) that the club had a balance in hand of £44 3s 7d.  Members’ contributions and other sums totalled £390 4s 4d for the 1952-53 season while payments into the bank amounted to £384 10s 2d.

Discussion followed on the question of disbanding the club in its present form as – it was suggested – it had served its purpose when feeding meal was rationed.  Membership had dropped from 180 to 12.  It was agreed that the money in hand, less certain expenses, be paid back to members.

Members present were of the opinion that a new club should be formed after they had heard an account from a representative of a local feeding stuffs firm of the benefits that would be available to club members buying pig meal.

It was afterwards agreed to form a club under new rules which was that members would have to pay for their meal with the order on the first Thursday in every month.  It was also agreed that an old rule enforcing a monthly contribution of 9d should remain.

Mr Wasley said that the veterinary surgeon was willing to continue his services to the club and payments for service would be 3s 6d per pig.

Officers elected were chairman, Mr E Salter; secretary, Mr V Wasley; committee, G Marshall, E Evans, J Harris and F Wheeler.
