My darling Cyril

Your letter of Sept 9th reached me at just the right moment. I had just departed to bed with a short sharp attack of influenza and it was a comfort to hear from you.

I am almost better. General Becher’s wife has been most kind in coming to see me and bringing me flowers. She is such a sweet woman.

I cannot write much because I still feel weak but I would like you to know that the “fancy” you mention in your letter relating to a sudden home coming and how you would like to surprise me, one summer’s afternoon is exactly in detail what I have often pictured myself, even to the room.

The papers tell of fighting at Tekrit. God grant you are safe and sound dear Heart. May He bless you and bring you back to me, dear Man of Mine.

All my love from

Ever your devoted
Mela
