Frederick Preedy and the Gothic Revival

The Chairman, on holiday in Germany, introduced the talk via Zoom; five people were on Zoom and 27 were present in the Hall at Badsey Community Sports & Social Club.  A minute’s silence was observed at the beginning of the meeting to mark the Queen’s passing.  Gerry Harte of the Vale of Evesham Historical Society then went on to give a most informative talk about the life and work of architect and stained glass artist, Frederick Preedy, who was born at Offenham in 1820.  His family lived there until 1840 when they moved to Fladbury.

Badsey Flower Show

The morning of Saturday 23rd July dawned bright and clear.  After a gap of two years due to the pandemic, it was good that Badsey Flower Show was once again taking place at the Recreation Ground.

The marquee with its exhibits looked great and the Society welcomed lots of visitors to the stand.  In the words of one our helpers:  “The whole show was brilliant, lots of stalls and people.  Lovely to see everyone and catch up with friends.  Just what everyone needed after an awful two years.”

With thanks to Jane Neill and Peter Stewart for the photos.
