2nd January 1879

My dearest Husband,

Edith is holding Baby so I can write you a line, the little fellow does not seem quite the thing, he had the stomach-ache very much yesterday & was sick several times, but gave me rather a better night.

I shall be so glad when I am with you, as I get anxious when there is anything the matter, being so ignorant about all little baby’s ailments.

I called on Mrs Bamford & Mrs Jackson yesterday, the former was out I am sorry to say, I have sent Nurse her money & find on settling my accounts that I have nearly £4 left so hope that will do; Carey’s have not sent their book yet, so I don’t know how much that will be.

I am so looking forward to having you home tomorrow, it is so dull being all alone & the weather makes it worse.  I am going upstairs now to pack my big trunk.

Goodbye my own darling, God bless you

Ever your loving wife

Eugénie N Sladden
