My darling Husband,

I have been prevented from going to Bourg today, as there is a strike among the omnibus drivers & conductors today, consequently no cab was to be found for love or money; it is most annoying as it will pretty well waste one of my days in Paris.  I shall have to order a cab over night & I am afraid pay rather much for it.  In one way I did not so much mind putting off my journey, as I feel rather queer today, having an attack of diarrhoea, I hope it will have gone before morning.  The weather is most unpleasant today, such heavy showers of rain & hail.  I do not feel much inclined to wander about in it, so have come up to Joe’s.  I spent the day here yesterday, Charlie & Anna being also here.  I was very pleased to receive your letter on Saturday evening with good news from home, give my love & kisses to all the dear children.  I dined with May on Saturday & saw the two little children, her two bigger boys are at school in America.  Father has given me a handsome diamond & pearl ring which belonged to Mother, you know my liking for rings so can imagine I was pleased.  I must send a telegram to the Hotel at Bourg to countermand my room till tomorrow night & also secure a cab for the morning, so will say goodbye.

With best love, hoping you are all well, I am,
your loving wife

Eugénie N Sladden
