My Darling Wife,

I have thought of you so much to-day for I fear you have had to undergo a little operation to the bad breast, and my poor little wife is hardly strong enough yet to bear much strain upon her nerves, however I shall quite expect to hear that all is going on well soon and to find on my next visit that the last drawback is about conquered.

It was nice for you to have a batch of letters this morning from those dear to you for I am sure the perusal would (more than once over) be a source of much pleasure to you.

I know you will be a brave good little woman now for the short time that must pass before we get together again, and then we will look for bright and happy times as the new year grows old upon us in our new home and our little one must help to gladden us more and more as he grows and interests us with all his pretty childish ways!  And now good night my own, I do so hope to hear a good account of you. Kiss “Jack” for me.

And I am
Ever your loving husband

Julius Sladden
