Dear Friend

It is with great pleasure I write thanking you very much for nice parcel sent on 4th October which I received 6th November. Everything was greatly appreciated. I think it is very kind of you to think of a poor fellow like me who has been a prisoner of war now over two years but no fault of mine. My home is at Hastings in Sussex but I have done all my soldier’s service in the Worcestershire Regiment. We are having some very cold weather here at present. I used to know a lot of Evesham men in my regiment in India. Again, thanking you, wishing you the best of health and wishes.

From yours gratefully
A Whiteman
