Archibald Sydenham ROUSE (1879-1963)

Biographical Details

Archibald Sydenham Rouse was a friend of the Robinson family of Richmond; Mary Anna Robinson was the sister of Eugénie Sladden.

Archibald was born in Cheltenham in 1879, the son of Frederick and Emma Rouse.  At the time of the 1911 census, he was living at The Cottage, Ormond Road, Richmond.  He was a 2nd-class Clerk in the Stores Department of the General Post Office.

In January 1914, Archibald went to supper at Marshgate House, Richmond, the home of Mary Anna Robinson.  Mary Anna’s nephew, Jack Sladden, was visiting.  Both Jack and Archibald were masons so, as Mary Anna said, “I daresay they enjoyed a masonic chat”.

Archibald died on 29th July 1963 at Wistaria Cottage, Amberley, Sussex.
