Miles Godwin SIMPSON (1874-1957)

Biographical Details

Miles Godwin Simpson (1874-1957) was the step-son of Mary Simpson (née Robinson), who was the niece of Eugénie Sladden.

Miles was born on 18th May 1874 at Kensington, London, the fifth of six children of Edward Henry Simpson by his first wife, Kate.

Miles became a tea planter.  On 13th November 1913 he married Jessie Sutherland in St Andrew’s Church, Calcutta, Bengal, India.  They had two daughters:  Kate (1914) and Margaret (1915).  Miles and family were mentioned in a letter written by Mary Anna Robinson on 2nd December 1915, with concerns about the health of Miles’s wife after the birth of their second child.

The Simpson family returned to live in the UK in 1926, their proposed address being The Steps, Withington, Gloucestershire.

Miles died on 17th February 1957 at Edinburgh, aged 82.
