Mary Bouchier SLADDEN (née BRISTOW) (1880-1940)

Biographical Details

Mary Bouchier Sladden, née Bristow (1880-1940), was the wife of Percival John Sladden, who was the son of Julius Sladden’s elder brother, Dilnot (1842-1906).  Mary is mentioned in one letter written by her sister-in-law, Dolly, on 3rd October 1915.

Mary Bristow was born at Christchurch, New Zealand, in 1880, the daughter of William Bristow.  She married Percival Sladden on 23rd December 1902 at Marton.  They had one son and five daughters, but the youngest daughter died in infancy:  Dilnot Bristow (1904-1965), Mary Jessica (1905), Bessie Letitia (1906), Margaret Charlotte (1909), Frances Dora (1912) and Joyce (1913-1913).  They lived at Marton.

Mary died on Christmas Day 1940 and was buried at Wanganui, Rangitikei.
