Walter Horsfall Schenk (1889-?) was a younger brother of Harold Schenk who was the schoolfriend of Arthur Sladden.

Walter Schenk was born in 1889 at Manchester, the sixth of seven children of August Oswald Schenk, a civil engineer, and his wife, Ellen.

On leaving school, Walter became a civil engineer like his father.  At the time of the 1911 census he was working in Portsmouth.  Walter tried to enlist at the start of WW1 but was rejected by the doctor.  He was later accepted.
