Dorothy Monica Williams (1896-1979) was the sister of Mary Christabel Sladden (née Williams) who had married Arthur Sladden in April 1914.

Dorothy was born on 2nd October 1896 at Dowlais Rectory, Glamorganshire, the seventh of nine children of the Reverend Llewelyn Morgan Williams and his wife, Georgina (née Rowlands).  She was baptized in the church at Dowlais on 7th November 1896.

In August 1914, on the outbreak of war, the Sladden family were holidaying at Craig y Mor, Newport, and met up on a number of occasions with members of the Williams family. Dorothy is mentioned in one of the letters written during this period.

During World War I, Dorothy undertook Red Cross exams and did some nursing work at Aberdare hospital, as she reveals in a letter of 12th May 1916, and as mentioned by other members of the Sladden family.

Dorothy married Frank Edward Wainwright Facey, a brewer, in 1929 in the Abergavenny district; they had one son, born in 1934.

In 1939 they were living at Plas Winton, Abergavenny.  Frank died on 11th July 1949 at The Homestead, Llanfoist, near Abergavenny.  Dorothy outlived him by 38 years, dying in the Haverford West district in July 1978, aged 90.
