Robert Cunningham Jones (1900-1972) was the younger brother of Juliet Sladden’s schoolfriend, Vera.

Robert Jones was born at Monington, Pembroke, on 8th October 1900, the younger of two children of the Reverend Evan Philips Jones and his wife, Janie.  Like his father and sister, he spoke both English and Welsh.  Robert began his schooling at St Mary’s National School, Cardigan, in January 1906, but was there for just three days before he moved to the school at Moylgrove.  In January 1915 he started at Christ College, Brecon, where all the Sladden brothers had attended.

Robert emigrated to Australia.  During the Second World War, he enlisted in Melbourne with the Australian Army.

He returned to live in England and died in the Cuckfield district of Sussex in 1972.
