Elmer Howell Morgan Williams (1901-1932) was the brother of Mary Christabel Sladden (née Williams) who had married Arthur Sladden in April 1914.

Elmer was born at Dowlais Rectory, Glamorganshire, the youngest of nine children and only son of the Reverend Llewelyn Morgan Williams and his wife, Georgina (née Rowlands).  He was baptized in the church at Dowlais on 30th July 1901.

At the time of the 1911 census, Elmer and his mother and one of his sisters, Georgina Millicent, were staying at The Mount, Newport, whilst his father and other sisters were at The Rectory, Dowlais.  Elmer was educated at Dowlais School; he left in April 1912 to attend Christ College, Brecon.

In August 1914, on the outbreak of war, the Sladden family were holidaying at Craig y Mor, Newport, and met up on a number of occasions with members of the Williams family. Elmer is mentioned in two of the letters written during this period.

Elmer did not marry.  He died at The Rectory, Llanwenarth Citra, near Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, in May 1931, aged 29.  He was buried in the churchyard at Llanwenarth Citra where his father was the Rector.
