Geraldine Mary HILL (1902-1972)

Biographical Details

Geraldine Mary Hill (1902-1972) was the cousin of Mela Brown Constable (the fiancée of Cyril Sladden).

Geraldine Hill was born on 9th December 1902 at Madras, India, the younger of two children of Francis John Hill and his wife, Mary Octavia (née Brown Constable).

In a letter of 19th August 1917, Mela, who had been staying at her mother’s house in Marlow when Geraldine was also staying, described her cousin thus:  “You remember the quaint little girl who was at Uncle Harry’s.  I believe she is quite unmanageable at home – but I fancy she is very fond of Mother, at any rate she seems very contented to prolong her stay at Marlow.”

At the time of the 1939 Register, Geraldine was a patient at Holloway Sanatorium, a private mental hospital, and was described as incapacitated.

Geraldine died on 26th April 1972 in St Andrew’s Hospital, Northampton.
