Thomas Ferrar RICKETTS (1876-1916)

Biographical Details

Thomas Ferrar Ricketts  (1874-1916) was a day pupil at Christ College, Brecon, from 1887-1890.  His name is mentioned in a letter written by Mela Brown Constable to her fiancé, Cyril Sladden.  Cyril would not have known him, but Jack Sladden would have been a contemporary.

Thomas Ricketts was born at Llandefalle, Brecon, the youngest of seven children of William Ricketts, a farmer, and his wife, Anne.  He went into farming like his father, but enlisted early in the war at the age of 40 with the Army Service Corps.

Driver Ricketts (T1/SR/198) was with the Horse Transport section, attached 39th Field Ambulance.  He died of enteric fever on 11th June 1916 and is buried at Basra War Cemetery.
