Mary Leanna Coleman (1863-1943), known as Lea, was the cousin of Julius Sladden.

Lea was born at Great Mongeham, Kent, in 1863, the second of four children of John Noakes Coleman, a brewer, and his wife, Sarah (née Pocock).  She grew up at Brewery House, Great Mongeham.  By 1881 she had moved with her family to Kent House, Upper Deal Road, Deal, and still lived there in 1891, working as a governess.

Lea did not marry.  When her father retired, she moved with her parents to Packington House, Victoria, Bristol.  At the time of the 1901 census, she was still working as a governess.  In 1911 she lived with her widowed mother at 77 Brynland Avenue, Horfield, Bristol.

Mary died at 12 Upper Belgrave Road, Clifton, Bristol, on 28th December 1943, aged 80.
