1960s – Christmas Card of Seward House, Badsey

Description

Christmas Card of Seward House, Badsey, sketched by T Royle.  The wording inside says:  “With best wishes for your happiness at Christmas and all through the year, from all at Seward House.”  The card can be dated to around 1960 as the artist, Tony Royle, retired to Badsey in 1959 and died in early 1966.  Until retirement, George Edward Anthony (Tony) Royle was the cartoonist “Belinda” in The Daily Mirror.  Tony Royle and his wife, Una, lived at The Little Cottage, High Street, just a few doors away from Seward House.
