Dear Mrs Sladden

We have just returned home from a long time abroad and I find your excellent photo of Badsey Church awaiting me for which very many thanks. I am so glad to have it, and hope I may see it again before very long.

We have been doing the outer things of civilisation: Morocco, Canary Islands, SA, Spain, then off to Constantinople, Asia Minor, Samos and Athens – thence to your brilliant capital, Paris, where my wife indulged herself in a few of the latest confections, and so back to a very cold climate here. Eva has taken a flat in London. Charlie is still at Baschurch near here.

I hope you are all well and flourishing. Is the wedding to come off soon! Please remember us to Eliza and all old friends and with kind regards to Mr Sladden and yourself.

Yours sincerely
Cecil Hunt
