I am afraid a letter is much overdue to you. At present I am trying with no great success to get a respectable one written to Mela, whose last was only a note, and not very recent either.

We are hard at work settling down and making as much preparation as possible against the bad weather which we must expect for two months, and has in fact begun though not severely so far. I am very fit, and living on rations which is no hardship as they are good. All parcels and stores have got stuck somewhere down the line. Your letter and May’s (Nov 15) were very welcome on the 31st last. If we don’t move for another few days, I ought to be able to get a letter written.

Best love to all from

Cyril
