My dear Ethel

It was so good of you and Kathleen to send me such a sweet little jug and basin – thank you so very much for them.  I really think the girls would like me to have breakfast in bed one morning, the purpose to use them – they certainly would look very pretty on the tray, but I think we must have them at afternoon tea, when we can all enjoy seeing them.  I am glad to say we are having lovely summer weather at last.

This is only an apology for a letter, but I know the others will have said all there is to say.

With much love and every good wish for the coming season.

Believe me always

Your affectionate Aunt

Bessie L Sladden
