My dear little wife,

I have just returned with Ridgeway from Alcester, 10 miles distant from here, where we drove for the purpose of seeing what business might be done, we did not actually secure any orders but I think something may be done another journey, after all one cannot open a connexion all at once.

I found your dear little letter at “The Crown” and have now come back to the brewery to answer it before post and dinner time, afterwards I am going down to Ridgeway’s place to meet young Allard and send off circulars.

I think our first brew bids fair to turn out good and I think with care and perseverance all will go well in due time but we must walk before we run.

I am glad to think you are at this time with some friends I do not seem to mind when I can feel you are not alone.

I really cannot say for certain that I will come to-morrow at 4P.M. so you must not exactly look for me but I shall come if I can if not of course by last train.

And now good-night dearest
Believe me ever
Your loving Husband

Julius Sladden
